In order to promote cricket the KSCA apart from Bangalore has academies all over the state. Each academy comprises of six to seven districts that cover the entire state. Some of the academies have their own stadiums too. They have produced many cricketing stalwarts such as Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and KL Rahul. The KSCA organizes cricket tournaments in schools and in different districts across various age groups to bring the talented into the light and promote them. Bangalore’s M.Chinnaswamy stadium with a capacity of 40,000 has hosted matches during the world cup and various International and IPL matches. The NCA (National Cricket Academy) is situated there.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is a franchise based team of Karnataka and is the official team of Karnataka in the IPL. The team is one of the five teams to have been in the IPL since the inauguration edition of the tournament. RCB is one of the 3 teams that has not yet held the cup once. Though they have made it to the finals thrice they have somehow failed to land up on the winning side.
