Hangzhou 2022 launches volunteer recruitment programme for Asian Games

Hangzhou 2022 has launched a global volunteer recruitment programme with around 52,000 people sought to help support the Games.


Volunteers will be required to work in Hangzhou or another co-host city for the Games.


Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Huzhou and Shaoxing are among the co-hosts which will stage events during the Games.


Hangzhou say volunteers will be required to support competition operations, accreditation, protocol, language services, as well as arrivals and departures.


Volunteers are also being sought to assist ceremonies and events, spectator services, media operations, Games services, transport, official conference services, the Asian Games Village and official hotels.


"In keeping with our vision of hosting a ‘Green, Smart, Economical and Ethical’ Asian Games - and in order to stage an unforgettable sports and cultural event with ‘Chinese Style, Zhejiang Glamour and Hangzhou Flavour’ that will be spectacular - Hangzhou 2022 is pleased to announce the launch of our Games Volunteers Recruitment Programme so that friends from around the world can be involved in our Games effort," Hangzhou 2022 said.


"Volunteers will be categorised according to the types of duties assigned and services performed.


"The three main categories of volunteers are general, professional and lead."


Candidates must be at least 18 years old and born before September 1 2004.


Hangzhou 2022 say the volunteers will also need to be excellent communicators, have good coordination and language skills and be available to take part in training and other activities organised by Hangzhou 2022.


Priority will be given to candidates with previous experience volunteering at sporting events, as well as those who are available for Asian Games, Asian Para Games and test events.


The deadline for applications is October 31.


The Asian Games are due to take place from September 10 to 25 2022.
